Tasting Room - Durbanville - R25K - R28K

Our client, a premium wine and hospitality estate located in the Durbanville wine valley, is looking for an experience assistant tasting room manager. The estate features a high-volume tasting room, established wine club and levy client base, event venue, and a comprehensive hospitality offering.

The tasting room operates within a fast-paced, commercially driven environment where delivering an exceptional guest experience is equally as important as achieving strong direct-to-consumer sales performance.

This position serves as a key leadership support role within the sales and hospitality division. The assistant tasting room manager acts as the second-in-command and must be fully capable of independently managing tasting room operations in the absence of the tasting room manager.

The role encompasses responsibility for:

• delivering a premium and memorable guest experience
• demonstrating strong wine knowledge and engaging storytelling ability
• driving direct-to-consumer sales performance
• supervising and guiding the tasting room team
• ensuring operational efficiency and administrative accuracy
• maintaining composure and effectiveness in a high-pressure environment

This is not an entry-level position. We seek an experienced wine industry professional with the maturity, commercial awareness, and leadership capability required to operate at a senior level within a premium hospitality environment.

Requirements:

• minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in a wine tasting room.
• strong wine knowledge essential.
• proven experience in a customer-facing role within the wine industry.
• demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• experience with POS systems, excel, and administrative reporting.
• availability to work weekends, public holidays, and events.
