Robertson Winery has an exciting career opportunity for a Quality Manager to join their team based in Robertson (Western Cape).
The Quality Manager will oversee and continuously improve quality control, food safety, laboratory, and compliance systems to ensure all products meet required standards. This role will provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight across quality functions, ensuring compliance from wine reception through to bottling and packaging.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): *Quality, Food Safety and Compliance Management: Leading and overseeing the Quality Management System, Food Safety Management System, and Compliance framework; Ensuring regulatory and certification requirements are met; Overseeing product approval and risk management; Leading internal audits and coordinating external audits and inspections. *Laboratory and Quality Control Oversight: Overseeing on-site laboratory and quality control activities; Ensuring testing, analysis, specifications, and traceability; Monitoring performance data, and leading incidents and crisis management processes where required. *Strategic Leadership and Improvement: Developing and implementing departmental quality strategies; Contributing quality-related insights to senior management decision-making; Leading and managing employees within the Quality, Compliance, and Laboratory functions; Managing departmental budgets; Reporting.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
- BSc Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related scientific field required (relevant quality, food safety, or auditing certifications will be advantageous);
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a quality management role within a manufacturing or FMCG environment (preferably bottling);
- Proven experience managing quality control, laboratory, and compliance functions;
- Strong working knowledge of food safety standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements;
- Experience with audits, certifications, and continuous improvement initiatives;
- Excellent verbal and written skills in Afrikaans & English.
