An exceptional opportunity for a passionate and highly experienced Specialist Field Guide to deliver world-class safari experiences within a luxury lodge environment. This role requires a refined host, storyteller, and naturalist who is able to create deeply memorable, personalised guest journeys while upholding the highest standards of safety, service, and conservation.
Minimum Requirements
- FGASA Level 2 or NQF4 Field Guide qualification
- Full Trails Guide (Lead Trails) qualification or equivalent specialist certification
- Minimum of 4–5 years’ experience guiding within a Big Five reserve at a luxury (5-star) level
- Proven ability to engage confidently with high-end international clientele
- Strong track record of delivering exceptional guest experiences
Key Responsibilities
- Curate and deliver immersive, interpretive safari experiences through twice-daily game drives, tailored to guest interests and expectations
- Lead guided walking safaris, ensuring both safety and a meaningful connection to the natural environment
- Act as a dedicated host, building genuine relationships with guests and enhancing their overall stay through personalised engagement
- Host guests during select meals and lodge moments, contributing to a seamless and elevated guest journey
- Uphold the highest standards in vehicle presentation, guiding equipment, and overall operational readiness
- Anticipate guest needs and preferences, going above and beyond to exceed expectations
- Collaborate closely with the wider lodge team to ensure a cohesive and world-class guest experience
- Maintain a high level of independence, professionalism, and initiative in daily operations
Competencies & Skills
- Valid Code B or EB driver’s license with PDP
- SAPS firearm competency (rifle)
- Valid First Aid certification
- DEAT registration (or relevant provincial authority)
- Advanced 4x4 driving skills
- Trails Guide qualification and Advanced Rifle Handling
- Exceptional communication and storytelling ability
- Polished, guest-centric approach with strong emotional intelligence
- Well-informed with a broad awareness of local and global current affairs
- Passion for conservation and sharing knowledge in an engaging, meaningful way
