We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Sous Chef to join a dynamic kitchen team in Stellenbosch. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative professional with a strong background in sushi preparation and kitchen leadership.
Salary: R28 000 – R35 000 (depending on experience)
Location: Stellenbosch
Requirement: Must be South African
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present high-quality sushi dishes to exceptional standards
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
- Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards
- Oversee stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff
- Contribute to menu development and seasonal specials
- Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and handled
- Step in to lead the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or Sushi Sous Chef
- Strong knowledge of sushi techniques, knife skills, and seafood handling
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and presentation
- Relevant culinary qualification advantageous
