Purpose of the role:

The Head of Finance Business Partnering (reporting to Finance Director Africa) is responsible for driving financial performance, strategic planning, and profitability across the Value-Add businesses in South Africa (encompassing Customer and Convenience business units) by partnering closely with operational leadership teams. The role ensures that finance moves beyond transactional support into a value-adding, decision-support function, focusing on business growth, margin optimisation, cost analysis and cost control. Aligned to the finance restructure, this role leads the Business Planning function, enabling operations to focus on growth while central services handle transactional activities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with leadership teams to drive strategic decision-making and financial performance
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
  • Provide deep insights into product costing, product margins, cost drivers, and profitability
  • Support business growth initiatives, including new markets, products, and investments
  • Drive cost optimisation and operational efficiency across the value chain
  • Embed finance into cross-functional teams to support data-driven decisions
  • Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, and compliance
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing finance team

 Education:

CA(SA) or CIMA qualification (essential)

8–10 years’ experience in Finance

Minimum 5 years in a leadership role

Strong experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Business partnering, Costing and margin analysis, Internal Controls

Industry experience in Agriculture / Farming (preferred), FMCG / Manufacturing / Food processing

Experience and Skills:

Financial modelling and scenario analysis

Budgeting, forecasting, and performance management

ERP systems, BI tools, and advanced Excel

Strong understanding of financial governance and internal controls

Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels

Proven leadership and people management capability

High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure
