Muratie Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa’s most historic and character-filled wine farms, is seeking an experienced and driven Tasting Room Manager to lead our front-of-house operations and elevate the guest experience.
Role Overview
As Tasting Room Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the tasting room, leading and inspiring the team, and ensuring every guest receives a world-class experience that reflects Muratie’s unique identity. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and motivate the tasting room team to deliver exceptional service
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Curate and enhance the guest experience, maintaining Muratie’s distinctive atmosphere and storytelling approach
- Drive wine sales and meet revenue targets through strategic upselling and promotions
- Manage stock control, ordering, and point-of-sale systems
- Handle reservations, group bookings, and VIP experiences
- Plan and execute events, tastings, and special activations
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality or the wine industry
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Solid wine knowledge (formal certification such as WSET is advantageous)
- Commercial mindset with a track record of driving sales and achieving targets
- Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and flexible hours
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Reliable transport
