THE ROLE
You'll be the face and the knowledge of 7 Cases - hosting guests, curating the weekly glass list, managing floor operations, and working directly with the owner to select the producers we champion. This is a craft position, not a corporate one.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Run daily floor operations and lead a small front-of-house team
• Manage and rotate the by-the-glass wine list, with tasting notes and producer stories
• Host guests with warmth, curiosity, and genuine expertise — never pretension
• Assist with producer outreach and selection
• Oversee wine storage, stock control, wastage, and cellaring
• Develop staff wine knowledge through ongoing informal training
• Contribute to the events calendar — tutored tastings, producer evenings, and more
WHO YOU ARE
• WSET Level 3, Cape Wine Academy Diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience
• A deep, genuine enthusiasm for South African wine — you know the indie producers, you follow the conversations
• Hospitality experience in a quality, wine-forward environment
• Calm, confident, and organised under pressure
• A communicator: equally at home with a curious newcomer or a serious collector
• South African citizen or holder of a valid work permit
WHAT WE OFFER
• Competitive salary, negotiable based on experience
• Unrivalled access to South Africa's most interesting small producers
• Meaningful input into the wine programme from day one
• A character-filled space on one of Cape Town's best streets
• The chance to help build something from the ground up
