ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Premium Wine Account Executive will serve as the custodian and ambassador of the DGB Prestige Wine Portfolio across KwaZulu-Natal's luxury hospitality, fine dining, lifestyle, corporate, and private-client sectors The role is a dual-purpose, high-impact role designed to drive brand equity, volume, and value growth across both direct-to-consumer and private-client channels, as well as top-tier, wine-centric on-trade outlets across the region. Curate bespoke experiences for high-net-worth individuals, while
simultaneously managing the commercial listings, portfolio execution, and relationships of high-profile on-trade accounts. Role requires an equal blend of advanced wine expertise, luxury hospitality custom, and commercial strategy. The successful candidate will be based in KZN North Coast and report directly to the National Premium Wine Executive.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Responsible for driving the growth, visibility, and commercial performance of the DGB Prestige Portfolio across KZN through strategic brand development, customer engagement, and channel expansion, with a specific focus on the development and strengthening of the Corporate Channel.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Maximise premium portfolio performance by increasing wine list penetration, distribution, and brand visibility within Prestige and Premium On-Trade accounts, specialist retailers, luxury hospitality groups, and premium lifestyle environments.
• Secure and maintain premium placements on tasting and pairing menus within leading restaurants and fine-dining establishments.
• Develop and expand the Corporate Channel by identifying new corporate business opportunities, securing strategic partnerships, and building sustainable revenue streams through targeted corporate engagement.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Winemakers to support new vintage launches, execute brand strategies, and ensure effective and consistent brand execution within the market.
• Provide strategic support to regional sales teams and stakeholders by planning and delivering high-impact trade visits, customer engagements, and brand presentations to strengthen commercial outcomes and brand positioning.
• Monitor and provide market intelligence, including competitor activity, customer trends, and channel opportunities, to support informed strategic decision-making and maintain competitive advantage.
• Deliver against agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with DGB’s commercial objectives, premium portfolio growth targets, and strategic business priorities.
• Lead and facilitate internal and external wine training programs to educate customers, sales teams, and partners, developing knowledgeable brand ambassadors and strengthening long-term brand advocacy.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATION & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Extensive wine knowledge, having successfully completed WSET Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• A Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, or related degree/diploma with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the FMCG, liquor, luxury hospitality, or premium wine industry.
• Strong commercial acumen with proven relationship-management and business-development capabilities within premium or luxury environments.
• Demonstrated experience in premium event execution, customer engagement, and hospitality relationship management.
• Passion for wine, storytelling, luxury brand building, and experiential marketing.
• Strong presentation, communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to confidently present wine training, masterclasses, and trade engagements to both small and large audiences.
• Digitally savvy with an understanding of social media engagement, premium brand positioning, and content collaboration opportunities.
• Innovative, energetic, highly motivated, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment, including weekends and afterhours when required.
• A reliable, roadworthy, and presentable motor vehicle which is fully insured, together with a valid unendorsed driver’s license.
• Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• A third language would be advantageous.

They possess a strong understanding of premium wine culture, experiential marketing, luxury partnerships, and modern brand storytelling — both in person and digitally.
