Our client with a small boutique guesthouse and self-catering accommodation (5 suites and 4 self-catering units) is looking for an individual with min 4 years relevant experience within a similar setup to take on the responsibilities as listed below:
Guest Services:
- Welcoming and registering guests, handling check-in and check-out procedures.
- Providing information about the guesthouse, local attractions, and amenities.
- Addressing guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Ensuring guest satisfaction and resolving any issues that may arise.
Staff Management:
- Supervising and coordinating the work of housekeeping staff, and estate staff overall, including the gardens, outside areas. There will be times where hands on assistance is required to ensure the high standards needed
- Regularly inspecting guest rooms, public areas, and grounds for cleanliness and appearance
- Training and onboarding new staff members when necessary.
- Scheduling staff within a suitable time frame to clean the suites and self-catering units, as well as the outside areas such as the Lapa, braai area, tea garden etc.
- Maintaining staff morale and ensuring adherence to guesthouse standards.
Property Management:
- Ensuring the guesthouse is clean, well-maintained, and presentable.
- Ensure that all suites are stocked with the relevant amenities – minibar coffee station, bathroom- toilet paper, shower gel/ soap etc.
- Managing inventory of supplies and ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Ensure that the public area is welcoming- flower arrangements/ decoration according to season.
- Overseeing maintenance and repairs as needed
- Manage staff – foreman, gardener and during season or when needed additional outsourced staff
Financial Management:
- Managing budgets and financial records.
- Handling cash, credit card transactions, and payments.
- Monitoring expenses and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Compliance:
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Adhering to licensing laws and other relevant regulations.
Other Duties:
- Developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote the guest house
- Use the large hall at the Self-catering side for events, hire this to local businesses or events managers – create media awareness etc.
- Managing reservations and bookings.
- Manage the social media platforms – Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn to promote the establishment.
- Coordinating with suppliers and contractors.
- Preparing and serving meals such as breakfast (where and when needed).
On-site accommodation is available.
