Our client, one of South Africa’s most prestigious and internationally acclaimed wine producers, is seeking a passionate, driven, and ambitious Young Winemaker to join their dynamic cellar team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an emerging wine professional to develop their career while contributing to the production of world-class wines under the guidance of the Head Winemaker.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in all aspects of the winemaking process, from grape intake through to maturation, blending, and bottling.
- Play an active role during harvest, including grape sampling, fermentation management, cap management, and general cellar operations.
- Monitor wine quality throughout production and maintain accurate and detailed cellar records.
- Support blending trials, laboratory analysis, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Maintain exceptional cellar hygiene standards and ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements.
- Collaborate closely with both the winemaking and vineyard teams to achieve production and quality objectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the cellar environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology.
- 3 years of practical cellar experience
- Demonstrated passion for premium wine production and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends during harvest periods.
- Valid South African driver's licence.
- South African citizenship.
