Our client, a South African company specialising in the importation and distribution of premium winemaking products and equipment (wine ingredients as well as stainless steel tanks, amphora and French oak barrels), has a position available for a customer-focused Technical Sales Consultant.
The ideal candidate will be based near the operations situated in Franschhoek, alternatively in the Cape Winelands with regular travels to Franschhoek. The successful candidate will combine practical winemaking knowledge with a passion for building client relationships and growing sales. A sound understanding of wine production processes and basic wine chemistry, together with the ability to achieve sales targets and provide exceptional customer service, is essential to the role.
Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to): Sales Growth: Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and expanding the customer base. Account Management: Building, maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing customers to encourage long-term business and repeat sales. Technical Product Support: Advising winemakers on suitable products and solutions based on their production requirements and providing technical guidance where required. Customer Service: Delivering prompt, professional and reliable service throughout the sales process and after-sales support. Administration & Compliance: Managing quotations, orders, customer communication and product-related administrative and compliance requirements. Reporting: Monitoring sales performance, customer activity and progress against agreed sales objectives. Product Knowledge: Maintaining an in-depth understanding of the product portfolio and developments within the wine industry.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Oenology, Viticulture, or a related field;
- In-depth knowledge of and exposure to winemaking and related production processes;
- Experience in a similar sales role will be highly advantageous;
- Excellent interpersonal skills (English & Afrikaans);
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office);
- Valid driver's license;
- Willingness to travel as required by the role.
In return, our client offers a remuneration package that includes a combination of basic salary & commission.
