My client, a distinguished luxury hospitality establishment situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, is seeking to appoint an experienced Assistant Housekeeping Manager to join their housekeeping team. The successful candidate will support the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing the day-to-day housekeeping operations, ensuring exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction throughout the property. This role is ideally suited to hands-on hospitality professionals with strong leadership abilities, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for delivering outstanding service.
Only candidates with previous experience in an upmarket hotel, luxury lodge, guest house, or similar hospitality establishment, as outlined in the specification, will be considered.

Key Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To
- Supporting the Housekeeping Manager with the daily planning, coordination, and supervision of housekeeping operations
- Supervising, motivating, and supporting the housekeeping team to ensure exceptional service standards
- Conducting room and public area inspections to ensure cleanliness and presentation meet company standards
- Ensuring housekeeping SOPs, health and safety procedures, and quality standards are consistently maintained
- Assisting with staff training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management
- Monitoring housekeeping productivity and ensuring rooms are serviced within required turnaround times
- Overseeing inventory, stock control, linen, and housekeeping supplies
- Identifying and reporting maintenance issues promptly
- Assisting with departmental administration, reporting, and record keeping
- Resolving guest requests and housekeeping-related queries professionally
- Performing additional duties as required to support the housekeeping department
Criteria
- Minimum of 3–5 years' housekeeping experience relevant to the role within a hotel, lodge, guest house, or luxury hospitality environment
- Previous experience as either an Assistant Housekeeping Manager or Housekeeping Supervisor is essential
- Strong knowledge of housekeeping procedures, standards, SOPs, and inventory control
- Proven leadership ability with experience supervising, training, and motivating housekeeping teams
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining luxury hospitality standards
- Ability to multitask, prioritise effectively, and perform well under pressure
- Professional, reliable, and guest-focused approach
- Proficiency in English, with a good command of Afrikaans being advantageous
- Experience with Opera, Apex, or similar property management systems will be advantageous
Remuneration and Hours of Work
- Market-related salary, dependent on qualifications and experience
- Hospitality working hours apply, including weekends, public holidays, and shifts as operationally required
- Previous experience in the position being applied for, or in a similar role, is essential.
