Wine Shop and Tasting Manager

The Wine Room is looking to employ an experienced Wine Shop and Tasting Manager to head up our exclusive wine shop and tasting room in Constantia, Cape Town. 

The Wine Room offers a full service for wine cellars, including technical design services; high-end wine displays; climate control solutions; and sale of wine cellar and bar appliances and accessories. Our Constantia shop will include a premium selection of international and local wines on offer; with select in-store wine tasting facilities and curated events.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced professional to join our team and head up this aspect of our dynamic business.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate all in-store customer wine sales
• Manage all in-store daily wine tastings
• Manage stock control and ordering
• Develop relationships with wineries and suppliers
• Build and sustain relationships with valued clientele
• Work alongside in-house marketing and sales teams
• Head up curated wine tasting events
• In-store admin, daily cash ups and house-keeping

 Qualifications and Skills

• Wine qualification essential (Cape Wines Academy/ WSET Level 2 minimum; level 3 advantageous)
• 5 years’ experience in wine tasting, wine sales and/or wine hospitality
• South African resident or valid work-permit
• Computer proficiency (MS xcel)
• Excellent knowledge of and passion for the wine industry
• You must be a dynamic, customer-focused individual with excellent communication skills
• Professional, well-presented, well-spoken and comfortable within high-net-worth clientele

 Details

• This is a retail position within a shop that is open 7 days a week. You will be required to work weekends, public holidays and over the festive season on a rotational basis.
• Work hours and weekly shifts can be discussed in more detail
• We are based in the Southern Suburbs so living close-by is a benefit for ease of travel
• Salary will be industry-related and based on a base-salary + commissions.
