Stellenbosch

A new and exciting wine bar in the heart of Stellenbosch is looking for a knowledgeable, passionate individual to lead the space.
Our wine list is independent and multi-producer, curated around philosophy rather than region or variety. Featuring almost 40 wines, it celebrates thoughtful winemaking and stories worth sharing. The food follows the same approach: simple, generous and carefully considered. Nothing overcomplicated—everything intentional.

The Role

You'll own the room. Guest experience comes first, and everything behind the scenes exists to make that possible.

You'll be responsible for

• Leading service on the floor and behind the bar.
• Managing ordering across wine, beer, spirits and bar consumables while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
• Overseeing stock control, stock takes, variance reporting, wastage and maintaining bar gross profit targets.
• Opening and closing procedures, cash-ups and POS accuracy.
• Rostering, day-to-day management and leadership of the front-of-house and bar teams.
• Delivering regular team training on wines, producer philosophies, service standards and sales confidence, empowering your team to confidently recommend and sell.
• Ensuring compliance with liquor licence regulations and responsible service practices on every shift.

The Hours

Shifts generally begin around midday and run through to close.
Evening and weekend work is an essential part of the role. Saturdays and Sundays are our busiest trading days, and we expect our Team Leader to be on the floor, leading by example.

Who We're Looking for

• Someone with a genuine passion and curiosity for wine, food and hospitality.
• Strong wine knowledge and a desire to keep learning. WSET or Cape Wine Academy qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
• At least 2–3 years experience in a wine bar, restaurant or tasting room. Leadership experience is essential
• Barista and food/kitchen experience is advantageous.
• Discipline with stock, margins and numbers. You understand inventory management and can confidently explain variances.
• A natural relationship builder. You understand that a successful neighbourhood wine bar is built as much on community and industry relationships as it is on great wine. You're comfortable networking, building relationships with local producers, neighbouring businesses, regular guests and industry professionals, while confidently hosting groups, leading informal tastings and representing the brand with warmth and authenticity.
• Warm, energetic and naturally hospitable. You create experiences that keep guests coming back.
• Reliable own transport, as shifts finish late and public transport is not a viable option.
• Based in or near Stellenbosch.
• A valid South African ID. This position is open to South African citizens and permanent residents only.

What We Offer

• A market-related salary aligned with your experience, including a performance-based incentive component.
• A short chain of command. You'll work directly with the owners and have the ability to make a real impact.
• Genuine influence over the wine list, staff training and the guest experience.
• The opportunity to help shape a new wine bar from the ground up.
• Room to grow with a business that is expanding.
