Key responsibilities
- Welcome and assist all guests visiting the tasting room
- Conduct professional wine tastings and present the Dekkersvlei wine range with confidence and enthusiasm
- Educate guests about our wines, vineyards, winemaking process, and the history of Dekkersvlei
- Recommend wine purchases and promote wine club memberships and current promotions
- Upsell wines, food pairings, deli products, and curio items
- Operate the point-of-sale system and process cash and card transactions accurately
- Maintain a clean, organised, and fully stocked tasting room at all times
- Assist with stock control, daily stock counts, and stock replenishment
- Prepare tasting stations and ensure all glassware and service areas are presentation-ready
- Support events, private tastings, wine-and-food pairings, and other guest experiences
- Work closely with the restaurant, deli, and cellar teams to ensure excellent customer service
- Follow all company policies regarding hygiene, safety, alcohol service, and cash handling
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the tasting room
Requirements
- Previous experience in wine, hospitality, retail, or customer service is advantageous
- A passion for wine and willingness to learn about our products
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-groomed, professional, and presentable
- Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and flexible shifts
- Strong sales ability and attention to detail
- Reliable, honest, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
