Tractor Driver vacancy at Cavalli Estate

Cavalli Wine Estate is looking for a reliable, experienced and hardworking Tractor Driver to join our vineyard and cellar operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tractors, vineyard equipment and spraying machinery, while assisting with vineyard, harvest and general farm activities.

Key Responsibilities

Vineyard & Harvest Operations

• Operate tractors and vineyard machinery safely and efficiently.
• Assist with all vineyard and harvest preparations and operations.
• Carry out vineyard practices according to instructions from the Winemaker/Assistant Winemaker.
• Assist with repairing and maintaining vineyard wires, poles and irrigation lines.
• Assist with supervising contract laborer's and ensuring work meets the required standards.
• Assist with grape harvesting, grape sampling, quality monitoring and delivery of grapes.
• Maintain a safe, clean and productive working environment.

Tractor & Equipment Maintenance

• Conduct daily inspections and checks on tractors, sprayers and farm equipment.
• Report faults, damage and potential hazards immediately.
• Grease and maintain tractors and farm machinery.
• Keep tractors, farm vehicles and equipment clean and in good working condition.
• Maintain neat and tidy vineyards and work areas.
• Assist the Irrigation Supervisor with cleaning irrigation lines and filters.
• Maintain and clean the chemical room and storage racks in accordance with safety requirements.
• Weed, Pest & Disease Control
• Monitor vineyards for pests and diseases and report any concerns.
• Conduct vineyard spraying activities safely and effectively.
• Assist with cover-crop sowing and weed-control operations.
• Operate sprayers and other vineyard machinery as required.

Equipment

The successful candidate must be able to operate and care for:

• Tractors
• Vineyard trimmers
• Planters
• Sprayers
• Farm vehicles and machinery

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Tractor Driver, preferably within a vineyard or agricultural environment.
• Experience operating tractors, sprayers and other agricultural machinery.
• Good understanding of vineyard and farming practices.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment faults.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Reliable, punctual and physically fit.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to assist with duties outside of normal responsibilities when required.
• A positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile.
• Good attendance and work ethic.
• Valid tractor/machinery operating experience or relevant certification will be advantageous.
