We are seeking tasting room assistant. 

Job Summary

The Tasting Room Assistant is responsible for providing an exceptional guest experience by welcoming visitors, conducting wine tastings, serving food and beverages, processing sales, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the tasting room. The role requires excellent customer service skills, product knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Welcome and assist guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Seat guests and ensure they are comfortable throughout their visit.
  • Provide information about the winery, wines, and available experiences.
  • Handle customer enquiries and resolve concerns professionally.

Wine Tastings

  • Conduct guided wine tastings for guests.
  • Explain wine varietals, tasting notes, winemaking processes, and food pairings.
  • Promote wine sales where applicable.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all wines and products.

Food & Beverage Service

  • Prepare and serve platters, pizzas, and other menu items according to company standards.
  • Serve wine, coffee, and other beverages.
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are consistently maintained.

Sales & Administration

  • Process orders and payments using the point-of-sale system.
  • Accurately handle cash and card transactions.
  • Assist with stock control and inventory counts.
  • Restock wines, merchandise, and consumables as required.

Tasting Room Maintenance

  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the tasting room, kitchen, and outdoor areas.
  • Set up and clear tables before and after guest visits.
  • Ensure displays and wine presentation areas are neat and fully stocked.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Basic wine knowledge is advantageous; willingness to learn is essential.
  • Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and occasional events.
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting wine cases when required.
