We are looking for a passionate, driven and commercially minded Wine Sales person.
A genuine wine enthusiast who combines excellent wine knowledge with strong sales ability, entrepreneurial thinking and great customer service.

This is a Senior hands-on, on-site role in Stellenbosch with an amazing opportunity to work and taste wines with leading winemakers, producers and international customers.

WHAT THE POSITION OFFERS

  • Extensive exposure to South African wines, wineries and producers.
  • A varied position combining wine, sales, customers and business. 
  • Excellent opportunity to grow and extend your own knowledge and experience within the South African wine industry.
  • Exposure to all levels of the client interaction and sales process.

THE ROLE

  • Drive wine sales and develop new business opportunities.
  • Manage and grow relationships with local and international clients.
  • Manage our specialist wine shop, including wine buying, pricing, stock control and presentation.
  • Provide knowledgeable, personalised wine recommendations in-store and via email.
  • Host private and bespoke wine tastings for local and international clients.
  • Taste and evaluate new wines and provide friendly, accessible tasting notes.
  • Stay current with new releases, producers and developments across the SA wine industry.
  • Produce a short weekly wine newsletter/blog and assist with social media and digital communication.
  • Take ownership of the role while working closely with a small, experienced team.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A genuine wine enthusiast with a broad knowledge and passion for South African wine.
  • A natural salesperson who enjoys engaging with people and building long-term client relationships.
  • Confident, outgoing, professional and personable.
  • A high level of Computer literacy
  • A self-starter with initiative and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Organised, accurate and comfortable handling the administrative side of the role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Digitally savvy and comfortable with everyday business software, email and social media.
  • Able to work independently while being a positive member of a close-knit team.

Formal wine qualifications such as WSET Level 2/3, Cape Wine Academy (CWA) or similar are advantageous, but practical wine knowledge, experience and passion are equally important.
