Join the VINPRO and ADVICO team and make an impact where it matters most – in the vineyard.
We're looking for a motivated, curious, and hands-on intern to join the ADVICO and VINPRO team and support our viticulture and soil science specialists in the field. This is an opportunity to work directly with producers, gain valuable industry experience, and contribute to projects that address everyday vineyard challenges through research, collaboration, and practical solutions.
As part of the team, you'll work alongside experienced viticulturists and soil scientists, contribute to meaningful research and demonstration projects, and help turn research into practical solutions that support the long-term success of South African wine producers.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor vine development throughout the season, from budbreak to harvest, across various cultivars and regions.
- Assist with data collection and processing for applied research projects and demonstration vineyards.
- Participate in practical vineyard activities such as pruning, suckering, shoot thinning, bunch counts, canopy management, and harvesting.
- Assist with soil sampling and gain hands-on experience working alongside our soil scientists to deepen understanding of vineyard soils and their role in vineyard performance.
- Gain exposure to vineyard propagation by working alongside the Vititec team, with a focus on vineyard material selection, grafting, and nursery practices.
- Work alongside experienced viticulturists to gain insight into vineyard planning, block evaluations, and industry consultations.
- Exposure to technical forums, team discussions, projects and site visits within the Vinpro Consultation group
Requirements
- A completed degree or diploma in Viticulture, Agriculture, or a related field i.e. candidate should have graduated in 2024, 2025 or expect to graduate in 2026.
- A passion for the wine industry and a willingness to work outdoors.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A valid driver's license and own transport.
