Marklew Family Wines in Stellenbosch is looking for a motivated seasonal harvest worker to join our small team for the upcoming 2027 harvest.
This is an excellent opportunity, particularly for a viticulture or winemaking student looking to gain practical, hands-on experience in both the vineyard and cellar.
The Position
The work will be primarily vineyard-based, with opportunities to assist with cellar operations during harvest.
Duties will include:
Assisting with grape harvesting activities
General vineyard work and harvest preparation
Assisting with cellar setups and preparation
Receiving and processing grapes
Pressing grapes
Cleaning and sanitising cellar equipment
General cellar duties as required
Because we are a small winery, you will be involved in the practical side of the entire winemaking process. This is a hands-on position where you will have the opportunity to learn and gain real experience rather than simply observing.
Harvest Period
Approximately mid to late January 2027 until the end of harvest, expected around early April 2027.
The exact starting date will depend on the season and harvest conditions.
Please note: There will not necessarily be work every day. Work will depend on vineyard and cellar requirements, and if there is no work, there will be no pay.
What We’re Looking For
No formal qualifications are required. We are looking for someone who is:
Hard-working and physically fit
Punctual and dependable
Willing to learn
Able to work well as part of a small team
Prepared to take initiative
Reliable and responsible
Able to commit to the entire harvest period
A passion for vineyards, grapes and winemaking will be an advantage.
Accommodation is NOT provided.
Applicants must have their own accommodation and reliable transport to and from the farm.
