We are seeking an experienced, high-energy Foreman to join our vineyard and farm team. This role is a vital link between management and our vineyard teams. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality work standards on the ground, maintaining field logistics, and driving team efficiency.
The ideal candidate is someone with good practical vineyard and farm knowledge who can enforce work standards, and ensure that vineyard teams remain productive and focused throughout the day.
Location: Stellenbosch Region, Western Cape
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Vineyard Manager and Viticulturist
Key Responsibilities
- Field Supervision & Oversight: Actively monitor vineyard teams to ensure tasks (pruning, canopy management, harvesting, etc.) are executed to standard.
- Logistics & Team Support: Coordinate and deliver essential supplies to the field teams throughout the day, including drinking water, tools, and equipment.
- Quality Control: Constantly inspect the quality of manual labor in the blocks, correcting techniques on the spot where necessary.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure teams are operating safely and using equipment correctly.
- Reporting: Keep the Vineyard Manager informed of daily progress, team performance, and any operational challenges.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working in a similar role is strictly required.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of seasonal vineyard and farm operations and standard viticultural practices.
- Knowledge and Experience: Maintenance of implements and irrigation system will be advantageous.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license (Code 8 or Code 10).
- Language: Ability to communicate effectively with field teams (fluency in Afrikaans or isiXhosa is highly advantageous).
- Candidate must live in Stellenbosch and; or surrounding areas.
- No criminal record.
