At Idiom Wines, hospitality and guest experience are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic Wine Advisors to join our tasting room team, with both seasonal and permanent positions available.
Idiom is a unique South African wine estate with a strong Italian influence. We grow and work with more than 20 different grape varietals, giving our Wine Advisors the opportunity to explore and share a diverse and exciting range of wines with our guests.
While our Flagship Blends remain an important part of the Idiom identity, we place significant focus on our Italian single-varietal wines as well as our structured white wines. Our Wine Advisors play an important role in bringing these wines to life through engaging conversations, tastings, and exceptional hospitality.
The Role
As a Wine Advisor, you will be more than simply serving wine. You will be responsible for creating memorable experiences and helping guests discover the character, diversity, and story behind Idiom Wines.
Key Responsibilities

Welcome and engage guests in a warm, professional, and genuine manner.

Conduct wine tastings and confidently communicate the story and character of Idiom Wines.

Develop a strong knowledge of our diverse range of wines and the more than 20 varietals we grow and work with.

Introduce guests to our Flagship Blends, Italian single varietals, and structured white wines.

Deliver exceptional hospitality and create memorable experiences for every guest.

Guide guests through wine selections based on their preferences and interests.

Promote and sell wines, wine club memberships, and related products.

Build meaningful relationships with guests and encourage repeat visits.

Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the tasting room.

Process sales accurately using the point-of-sale system.

Assist with events and other tasting room activities when required.
Who We're Looking For

Previous experience in wine, hospitality, tourism, or customer service is advantageous.

A genuine passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences.

An interest in wine and a willingness to continually learn and develop your wine knowledge.

Someone who enjoys talking to people and can confidently engage with guests from different backgrounds.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Well-presented, professional, energetic, and reliable.
