Garden & Grounds Maintenance Worker

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Garden & Grounds Worker to assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the estate’s gardens and surrounding grounds.

The successful candidate should have previous gardening or grounds experience, be comfortable working independently, and have experience operating garden and maintenance machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• General maintenance and upkeep of gardens and landscaped areas
• Lawn mowing, edging, trimming and general lawn care
• Pruning and shaping of trees, shrubs and plants
• Weeding and maintaining flower beds and planted areas
• Use and maintenance of garden machinery and equipment
• Safe operation of machinery such as chainsaws, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, lawn mowers and other power equipment
• Tree and branch cutting where required
• General cleaning and maintenance of garden and estate areas
• Monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems
• Identifying basic irrigation problems such as blocked sprinklers, damaged pipes or leaks
• Assisting with general estate maintenance when required
• Keeping tools, machinery and work areas clean and in good working condition
• Following health, safety and estate procedures at all times

Requirements

• Previous experience in gardening, landscaping or grounds maintenance
• Practical experience using garden machinery
• Chainsaw experience is highly advantageous
• Good understanding of general plant and garden maintenance
• Basic understanding of irrigation systems would be an advantage
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, hardworking and responsible
• Good attention to detail
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable and takes pride in their work.

Experience working on a farm, estate, hotel, wine estate or large private property would be advantageous.
