Looking for a reliable, experienced and safety-conscious tractor driver to work on a reputable wine farm in the Stellenbosch Kloof area. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating tractors and tractor-mounted implements across various farm operations, while also taking responsibility for the daily maintenance checks, preventative inspections, cleanliness and reporting of faults on tractors and implements.When tractor-driving duties are not available, the successful candidate will be expected to assist with other outstanding farm or departmental tasks as directed by management.

Key Responsibilities -Tractor Operations

  • Safely and efficiently operate tractors and tractor-mounted implements.
  • Assist with soil preparation and general cultivation activities.
  • Transport compost, materials, and harvested produce.
  • Assist with loading and offloading activities.
  • Operate equipment for mowing, spraying and general farm maintenance.
  • Follow all farm safety procedures and operating instructions.
  • Ensure tractors and implements are used responsibly and appropriately.
  • Ensure all tractor inspections are preformed daily before use and all maintenance is up to date.
  • Report any unusual noises, vibrations or other potential mechanical problems.
  • Report faults, damage, leaks or breakdowns to the relevant supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate tractor logbooks and fault records where applicable.
  • Keep tractor as well as tractor-mounted implements clean after use.
  • Park and secure the tractor safely at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure the tractor is refueled and ready for the next shift.
  • Perform other reasonable farm duties as instructed by management.
  • Support the team during busy production periods and assist with general farm operations where required.

Requirements

  • Valid tractor driver's license
  • minimum of 3 years' proven tractor-driving experience, preferably in a farming or agricultural environment.
  • Reliable, responsible and punctual.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual farm duties.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends and public holidays and overtime during peak operational periods.
  • Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Able to assist with lifting, loading and moving materials where necessary.
