Perdeberg Cellar, situated in the Paarl wine region, currently has a position for a Laboratory Assistant to join their team on a fixed-term contract basis for the harvest season.
The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, combined with strong organisational abilities and attention to detail. Effective time management, the ability to prioritise competing demands and meeting deadlines are essential.
Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): *Cleaning of the laboratory and its apparatus *Stocktake of laboratory inventory *Assisting laboratory analyst and/or manager as required *Assist with the wine analysis *General office administration: Arrangement with courier services, follow the general filing system in the laboratory; Handling the switchboard *All other duties related to this role.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Matric required;
- Experience in a similar position within the wine industry will be advantageous, including practical experience with basic hand-method analysis such as VA, aspiration, pycnometry, protein, cold stability and pinking analysis;
- Good computer literacy (MS Office & WineMS);
- Own reliable transport;
- Willingness to work hours as per industry requirements.
Contract period: January - April 2027.
