Stellenbosch
A prestigious working farm in Devon Valley, Stellenbosch, is opening its gates with a new farm-to-table restaurant, and we’re looking for chefs and scullery staff who want to cook with the seasons.
Here the menu starts outside the kitchen door: the herd, the garden beds and whatever the farm is giving us that week. You’ll work in a small, hands-on brigade where everyone’s contribution shows on the plate. If you want to understand where your ingredients come from and cook food that’s honest, generous and tied to the land, this is the kitchen for you.
We’re looking for
- Chefs ([Chef de Partie / Commis])
- Scullery
What you’ll do
- Prep and cook for breakfast and lunch service, plus two evening services a week
- Work with seasonal, farm-grown produce and adapt as the seasons change
- Cook and plate to recipe and presentation standard
- Keep your section spotless and follow food safety, labelling and FIFO
- Keep the scullery and crockery moving through service (scullery roles)
What you’ll bring
- Chefs: previous experience in a quality restaurant kitchen; a culinary qualification is an advantage
- Scullery: kitchen or scullery experience preferred
- A real interest in seasonal cooking and working with what the farm produces
- A team player who takes pride in the work and is eager to learn
- Reliability, and availability for weekends and public holidays
- Contactable references
What we offer
- 5-day work week
- Breakfast and lunch service, with only two evening services a week
- Staff meals on shift
- First uniform provided
- Full training before opening
- The chance to help build a farm kitchen from the ground up
How to apply
Send your CV and two contactable references with “Kitchen – [Position] – [Your Name]” in the subject line.
If you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
