Accountant (Packaged Wine)

Roodezandt RF is looking for a dynamic Accountant to join their finance team. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the financial function of the packaged wine department, while also providing support to the department’s marketing and sales functions. The successful candidate will report to the Financial Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting

• Manage the full financial function of the packaged wine company for both national and international markets
• Prepare, manage and report on the annual marketing and sales budget for packaged wine in collaboration with the marketing team
• Determine and reconcile standard costs per packaged wine product and customer
• Calculate and process commission payments to agents and consultants.

Packaged Products

• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements relating to packaged wine
• Stock control / management with regard to packaged product
• Monitor and reconcile the packaging of products at external packaging facilities

Marketing

• Contribute to the development of marketing and sales strategies
• Provide input through marketing reports, meetings and annual planning
• Analyse and monitor marketing and sales functions, and make recommendations for improvements
• Manage, monitor and support the marketing team with marketing materials and activities

Minimum Requirements

• A degree in Accounting (BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification)
• A minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant accounting experience
• Experience in the wine industry, FMCG or a marketing environment, preferably involving packaged or bottled wine
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Pastel (experience in WineMS will be an advantage)
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
