Our client, a well-established and award-winning winery in Fransschoek requires an ambitious and forward-thinking individual with a proven track record in export/local sales and a thorough understanding of the drinks market. This position reports to the Managing Director.

Main duties: 

  • Manage and monitor business objectives, advertising and promotional plans and expenditure, and set up controls to ensure efficient marketing and brand building
  • Develop product specific training programs for customers sales teams, for them to maximize their products within their listings
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to maximize sales and profitability for the company by effective implementation of sales/trading strategies
  • Strategic planning to achieve international and local sales goals
  • Implement sales and distribution plans to meet customer requirements
  • Carry out market research and competitor activity reports
  • To systematically manage their portfolio to clients and prospect accounts by generating targeted listings
  • Effectively manage and control sales and marketing budgets to achieve targeted sales and A & P 


  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Sales- and / or Marketing Management
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales, marketing, brand establishment & development in the Wine Industry and FMCG environment
  • Familiar with a national and international network of senior wine buyers
  • Attending of wine shows and functions
  • Business oriented and performance driven
  • Financial acumen to finalize the negotiation of prices and/or agreements
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Significant travel both within South Africa and internationally is expected
  • Must have ability to work flexibly including weekends and public holidays
