We are recruiting for a unique individual who is competent and capable to achieve sales growth both domestically and internationally across our reputable brand portfolio through effective presence in the trade, to support our distributors and to leverage brand exposure through corporate engagement, events and various brand partnerships and marketing activities, in alignment with the overall marketing plan. This is a high-level role that is crucial for the success of our winery.

THE KEY PERFORMANCE AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS:

TRADE & SALES FOCUS

  • Ensure that all the company’s marketing activities are in line with the marketing objectives and within overall marketing budgetary limits
  • Provide structure and direction to the company’s marketing function by developing/updating and implementing its overall marketing plan
  • Ensure effective relationships within the company’s marketing team and all external partners (distribution, brand partners, etc.) to ensure sales and marketing plans are executed as agreed
  • Monitor and drive sales performance per product and brand against agreed plans and targets for each channel/region/market and suggest and implement program improvements/changes as required
  • Manage all elements typically associated with the marketing function (pricing, brand identity, packaging etc.)
  • Manage departmental business planning, budgeting, training, quality improvement, continuous improvement, and spending control processes
  • To improve profitability, analyse wine industry market segments and develop the appropriate marketing strategies to increase sales in those segments

COLLABORATION WITH AND SUPPORT FOR OUR DISTRIBUTOR

  • Designing marketing plans in conjunction with the distribution team and monitoring the implementation thereof
  • Provide effective and reliable support to the sales team and assisting in deepening the sales effort
  • Review, evaluate and improve trade support in terms of return on investment
  • Establish and maintain highly effective personal relationships within the trade
  • Selecting target markets in conjunction with the distribution team and strategically engaging the team
  • Oversee and review the roll out of the main marketing strategy

CORPORATE MARKET

  • Identify and pursue relevant opportunities with a view to achieve sales pull
  • Increasing brand exposure and building a professional network

SHOWS AND EVENTS

  • Identify, pursue and manage valuable events/festivals/showcase opportunities and managing our offering
  • Organizing and managing major events 
  • Liaison with the local wine valley
  • Being the “public face” of our winery and promotion at various events

MARKET ANALYSIS, EXISTING AND NEW BRAND ASSOCIATION

  • Identify opportunities and create plans to capitalize on those opportunities
  • Implement a variety of marketing initiatives with the view of improving our brand exposure in the marketplace and increase sales
  • Analyse market conditions and prepare market reports

SALES & BRAND MANAGEMENT

  • Perform the appropriate range of marketing activities to achieve exposure and sales goals including developing marketing strategies, creating an advertising plan, performing market research, and planning media engagement
  • Analyse wine industry market segment
  • Manage and develop brand plans for all brands, in line with the agreed standards
  • Develop promotional activities that are appropriate to the relevant brand(s)
  • Oversee the design of promotional materials and ensure correct representation of the brand
  • Create and develop point of sale marketing materials
  • Work closely with all relevant agencies and printers to create appropriate marketing materials

ASSIST WITH NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

  • Participate in new product and technology development initiatives
  • Identify market trends and support new product development to meet these trends

SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT

  • Manage and develop our website(s), all social media and public relationships

SUPERVISE AND MANAGE BRAND AMBASSADOR(S) AND OTHER SALES STAFF

  • Manage and direct any assigned staff to meet or exceed established cost, quality, and productivity standards
  • Provide leadership, communication, and coaching to marketing and sales staff; cultivate a motivated employee environment of trust, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and business ownership
  • Implementing performance appraisal standards, if needs be

GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE

As a national domestic position, the above shall apply to national sales and the marketing of our brand portfolio domestically, inter alia through distributor relationships, corporate relationships, events and brand partnerships in all regions. Specific emphasis on the important North American market shall however be required and marketing activities shall also be focused on generating sales in other key international markets.
