A full-time position as a Technical Sales Manager (Oenology) is available within the Bio-Technologies Business Unit of Anchor Yeast. The successful candidate will need to be based in the Cape Town area.

Anchor Oenology is part of the Biotechnology Business Unit of Anchor Yeast which is situated in the Western Cape, the heart of the South African Winelands. We are a dedicated Technical and Sales team servicing the majority of the wine producing cellars within the South African wine industry. Anchor Oenology is the leading new world wine brand in the world. We underpin this statement by constantly being a leader when it comes to innovation, world firsts and pioneering inventions. In 1974, Anchor Yeast, a proudly South African company, produced the first experimental wine yeast and the next year, in 1975, we provided the South African wine industry with the first commercially produced Anchor wine yeast. With more than 44 years of experience in the production of wine yeast, becoming only the second company in the world to produce yeast for the production of wine, and the first to introduce dried wine yeast to the Southern Hemisphere we see ourselves a world player.

Today, Anchor Oenology is renowned for making history in the worldwide wine industry and is currently being distributed on 5 continents and in 35 countries around the world.


POSITION SUMMARY

The position requires a self-driven, well-organised and influential individual with an understanding of the wine making process and a passion for the wine industry. The successful applicant will be responsible to develop and generate sales of oenological products and/or equipment within various wine regions for Anchor Oenology. Applicants
should have excellent interpersonal communication and management skills, be able to pay attention to detail and work without constant supervision.

Because of seasonal variances, the successful applicant will most likely have to work outside normal working hours and from time to time do more than expected of him/her to assist winemakers during the harvest period. In addition, Anchor Oenology has an international footprint. This will require that the successful candidate renders technical support to an assigned country(s) and will result in time away from home for extended periods.

The provision of general sales support which includes:

• Build relationships with customers
• Key Accounts Management
• Support current clients
• Always looking for new growth opportunities
• Generate new sales
• Help plan and organise technical events
• Brand ambassador at events
• General administration


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The following is required:

Knowledge / Qualification / Experience:

• A formal qualification (degree or diploma) preferably in Viticulture and/or Oenology.
• A good understanding of the wine making process.
• More than 5 years’ experience in the wine industry.
• Technical knowledge of cellar machinery would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Have management skills.
• Detail oriented and results driven.
• Have a conscientious personality.
• Bilingual (English and Afrikaans).
• Other languages would be beneficial.
• Computer Literacy: Word, Excel (high level), PowerPoint, Cognos and Syspro.
• Drivers licence and own transport is mandatory.
