Head Chef within the Franschoek region

A successful fine-dining restaurant attached to an iconic wine estate in the Franschhoek region, is looking to fill the following position.  The successful candidate is an experienced, hardworking, creative and reliable team player who can execute their responsibilities with the utmost attention to detail. The main purpose of this position is to take control of the kitchen department in line with the requirements from the Hospitality Manager.


Head Chef

Requirements:  *A diploma in professional cookery and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position * strong leadership ability * excellent timekeeping and reliability * a solid understanding of the marriage of wine and food * experience working in kitchens abroad as well as a flair for classical French cooking will be considered advantageous * driver’s license and own reliable transport.

 Duties and responsibilities include the following:  * daily preparation of all food items * recipe and menu development * training of kitchen staff/chefs * daily stock control * food cost and budgeting * daily planning and placing of food orders * management of staff * adherence to kitchen health and safety procedures * any other duties related to this position.
