We have available an exciting career opportunity for a professional Engineering Manager in the Overberg area of the Western Cape. Our client is a specialist producer, packager and marketer of fresh produce is looking for an energetic and development-driven individual to fill this role. Reporting to the Business Unit MD, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading a specialised team of engineering professionals who are operationally responsible for providing mechanical, electrical and refrigeration support to three of our client’s production and storage plants.

As a senior manager of the Group, he/she will also have a joint responsibility to align departmental objectives and activities with the organisational strategy and will be responsible for developing a high-performance team and implement systems and processes that ensure efficient and sustainable operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and providing guidance to Project Engineers on large infrastructure projects
  • Overseeing, providing input to and monitoring the execution of the maintenance plans to ensure that the team of technicians maintain facilities timeously and to the required quality standard
  • Reviewing and evaluating various engineering systems, processes and programs to enable process optimization
  • Lead engineering improvement and innovation initiatives
  • Leading and managing a team of experienced engineering personnel and ensure alignment with organizational objectives
  • Managing and controlling the engineering budgets
  • Ensuring infrastructure and OHS compliance

Minimum Requirements:

  • Engineering Degree (a Government Certificate of Competence, GCC, will be advantageous)
  • At least 8-10 years experience in an engineering role, with exposure to large mechanical, electrical and/or refrigeration installations, preferably within a food processing environment
  • A minimum of 5 years managerial experience at a senior level and within an organized labour environment
  • Strong computer skills and good knowledge of systems
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively across all levels within an organization

Salary package on offer:

  • Total CTC package of around R950k per annum (incl. Pension Fund contribution)
