Our client, a listed manufacturing company, has a vacancy for an Operations Manager based in Paarl. The specific duties of an operations manager include formulating strategy, improving performance, procuring material and resources and securing compliance.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To ensure that shift efficiency targets are achieved on a consistent basis (OEE, % to Plan)
  • To ensure that all production conforms to product specifications
  • BRC requirements and QC
  • To control all expenditure in accordance with the approved annual budget
  • To ensure that all interdepartmental documentation is completed accurately and timeously
  • To ensure the factory is kept clean and complies to all Health and Safety Regulations and Procedures
  • To ensure that all employees are utilised in an effective manner, i.e. absenteeism
  • To monitor the conduct of employees and to take appropriate action when required
  • Distribution and warehousing
  • Manage equipment reliability
  • Raw material QC and stock control
  • General site, security and housekeeping
  • Ability to operate in a unionized environment

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Production Management
  • At least 8 years’ experience of Production Management within the manufacturing industry
  • Plastics/Packaging experience advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience in the Extrusion and Thermoforming
  • Financial literacy and detailed Income Statement analysis skills
  • Good People Management skills
  • Computer Literacy / Proficiency
  • Must be able to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to maintain interpersonal relationships (Colleagues, Subordinates and Customers)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Must be able to function in a fast paced environment
