Ernie Els Wines situated in the Helderberg region of Stellenbosch is opening a “BRAND NEW KITCHEN” and will be able to serve 140 seats. We are looking for a team of young dynamic and enthusiastic kitchen staff members to maintain the highest standards of food quality and presentation in workstation as directed by the Execution Chef.

LINE COOKS: (Various positions)

Griller:    Knowledge of different Meats, cuts and cooking methods.

Pasta:     Knowledge of Pastas, sauces and cooking methods.

Pastry:    Knowledge of Desserts, Pastries, Cakes and cooking methods.

Starters: Knowledge of Salads, dressings, meats, and cooking methods.

Veggies: Knowledge of the preparation of all vegetables, assisting Pasta section

The primary responsibility of line cooks. Preparation of food, keeping the par level right, cooking to order, maintaining a clean section, equipment & Storerooms.


Grade 12 or equivalent

1-2years’ experience working in a restaurants or hospitality in a grilling/meat/ pasta/ pastry/ starters or veggie position. 

Must have experience & be proficient in “a la carte”

Excellent interpersonal & communication skills in English.


Barista will be responsible for serving all hot beverages by presenting the coffee and tea leaf in a professional and friendly manner with individualized attention towards each customer.

Promotes coffee consumption by educating customers; selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies.

Qualifications and experience:

Grade 12. Online Barista certification course will be preferable

2-year experience

Write & Speak English fluently


The primary responsibility of the food runner is making sure that the Cutlery, crockery, salt & pepper shakers/condiments is set up on tables. As well as back up is ready for service and in service. The Food Runner is also responsible for the delivering of the food plates to the tables and empties to the scullery/glass-wash.


The primary responsibility of the sculler is making sure that the glassware, dishes, pots and pans are constantly clean and properly stored. The sculler is also responsible for maintaining the storerooms and kitchen’s overall cleanliness.

Qualifications and experience:

Grade 10 (Literate)

Previous experience as a cleaner in a restaurant kitchen.

English Speaking – second language is fine.


Workdays: Shifts: Normal 5-days working week or 6-days working week if required during peak season.

Working week incudes weekends & public holidays.


Candidates must have/ arrange own transport, be reliable and hard-working, passionate about food, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
