Our client is looking for a well-experienced Packhouse Manager in the Ceres area.  Being a family owned farm specializing in the exports of fruit, the suitable incumbent will be overseeing the general  responsibilities of a Packhouse with one AWETA packing line for specifically Apples, Pears and Plumbs.  Excellent management skills and strong packhouse and line management experience is required.

Experience in this industry is a necessity. The packhouse is operated together with a larger production unit, where apples, pears and plums are grown and delivered directly to the packhouse.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Management of packhouse staff
  • Ensure effective preparation of the packing line (AWETA)
  • Machine calibrations
  • Accurate execution of packing instructions according to prescribed standards
  • Quality Control
  • Maintaining productivity and goals
  • Knowledge of food safety systems

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 5 – 10 years’ experience within a packhouse environment
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years managerial experience within a packhouse (essential)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of packing of apples, pears and/or plumbs (essential)
  • Good packhouse machinery experience and knowledge
  • Excellent management and communication skills
  • Fluent in both Afrikaans & English (non-negotiable)
  • Excellent people skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Able to function well under pressure

Salary package on offer:

  • CTC package negotiable (depending on experience)
