Purpose of the role:

To provide support to the Technical Managers ensuring effective administration of the Food Safety, Social and Sustainability System (Due-diligence) and auditing support to pack houses and growers. Administer the due diligence processes applicable to all commodities and assist Commercial teams, producers and clients with relevant due diligence administration.

 The Functional Responsibilities of the position:

  • Monitor the status of certifications, residue analysis and spray records and update on company systems
  • Visits to suppliers/pack houses related to food safety and audits.
  • Maintain records of audit outcomes, non-conformities and give support and follow up on corrective action plans of growers/pack houses.
  • Explore updated and new developments of food safety, ethical and sustainability systems and standards.
  • Assist with enquiries and advice regarding Global G.A.P., ethical trade initiatives and customer specific certification schemes.
  • Pro-actively consult with Commercial Units and / or growers to establish needs and assistance required with due diligence requirements and improvement / suggestions on related administrative process.
  • Record the significant due diligence proposals and issues as a result of the consultations.
  • Show evidence of implementing improvements and remedial actions as requested by commercial units / growers as a result of the consultations.
  • Pro –actively follow up with Product teams / Growers if  accreditation certificates , spray record and residue results  are not available on company systems.
  • Inform and assist growers / via commercial units to growers, regarding client and market specific due diligence and accreditation requirements.
  • Verify spray records against market or client specific PPL requirements, and  MRL results   per grower per commodity / cultivar against client / market specifications and highlight any deviations and potential impact to commercial unit
  • Applications for MRL/spray derogations
  • Maintain records of SEDEX/SIZA information, including third party ethical audits for suppliers and update on company systems; also granting access rights to the relevant systems (SIZA / Sedex), and linking specific customers and growers.
  • Internal: Compile lists of growers with updated accreditation and residue information and upload and maintain on company systems
  • External:   Compile information  in  client specific required format / on line i.e Foodexperts, TNC submissions and accreditations
  • Respond to all due diligence requests / Refer as relevant for specialized and sensitive enquiries / incidences.
  • Follow up with Certification Bodies  on accreditation related enquiries 
  • Follow up with laboratories on any laboratory related enquiries
  • Verify compliance to country /region specific protocol requirements (for e.g. Indonesia, Saudi Arabia), and respond or refer any related enquiries and incidences
  • Swift response - In time and to the satisfaction of the customer. 
  • Attend Global Gap Working Group meetings and stay abreast  of new developments  regarding Food Safety, and  Social and Sustainability Standards, as well as related customer specific standards, to be up to date and  equipped to assist with enquiries
  • Coordinate IFS Broker 2, Fairtrade and Organic annual company audits
  • Monitor certain customer MRL requirements that require target analysis in addition to  multi-residue analysis and to request additional samples for residue analysis as needed, e.g. Indonesia heavy metals and LIDL 2,4D and Dichlorprop Keeping contact to Freshfel and the German fruit trade association DFHV to gather information with regard to legal changes of MRLs, labelling of produce and other EU regulations.
  • Provide training to staff with regard to certification schemes, hygiene, HACCP, IFS Broker 2, Due Diligence and usage of related systems
  • Be the company Food Safety Officer

Requirements for the role:

  • 2-3 years Food Auditing background essential
  • National Diploma Agriculture - food safety specialisation
  • Training in Quality Assurance, HACCP, BRC, GlobalGap; Sedex/SIZA
  • Valid EB drivers licence
