Our client is an international marketer and exporter of fresh fruit and vegetables based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.  An opportunity for an experienced Manager has become available to manage the IT and Systems division.  The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills with a high EQ, exceptional software skills and must be willing and able to travel. This role will report to the Financial Director.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Business Applications:
    • Stabilising business applications systems
    • Managing change requests to business application systems
    • Managing bug fixes to business application systems
    • Driving optimisation opportunities within business application systems
    • Providing business application tools, such as business intelligence tools and being a strategic business partner to the main functional departments of the organisation
  • Data Integrity:
    • Stabilising and ensuring data flow, external systems and error logs
  • Communication:
    • Optimising available communication mediums and introducing new platforms where applicable
  • Security:
    • Maintaining and continuously improving IT security levels within company policy and guidelines
  • Hardware and Software:
    • Managing the maintenance of all hardware and operating system infrastructure, as well as software service providers
    • Aligning knowledge of Microsoft tools to global standardisation
  • International:
    • Operating as a link between corporate IT and SA entities
    • Maintaining and continuously improving relationships with the company
  • Budget Cost Control:
    • Proposing annual IT and Systems budget and managing / staying within the approved budget
  • Compliance:
    • QMS – maintaining ISO accreditation
    • GCC adherence
    • Adherence to Group Systems and IT Policy
  • Digital Transformation:
    • Investigating/sourcing and proposing digital-based support and new inventions to business
    • Implementing approved projects and maintaining within approved budgets
  • Staff Management:
    • Guiding, leading and mentoring the Systems and IT Team to maintain and improve support service levels
    • Leading new IT management models and performance improvements (i.e. agile, loT, trends, etc.)
  • Staying up to date on technical information by attending seminars and courses

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant formal tertiary qualification
  • At least 5 – 7 years’ Senior Management relevant work experience in the industry (understanding of the export of fresh fruit will be advantageous)
  • Knowledge of the Duties and Responsibilities mentioned above
  • Meticulous accuracy and attention to detail when reporting
  • Exceptional computer software skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with people on all levels in the organisation
  • Ability to guide, direct and influence people in such a way that outputs are positively performed
  • Ability to travel
