The ideal candidate will process all financial transactions and creates financial reports. The processing of financial transactions include managing debtors, creditors, and salaries by invoicing, investigating and posting information from such source documents as invoices, receipts, payroll, journals and all other relevant financial documents.

Reporting to the Finance Manager but working closely with the Estate Manager, the candidate will be based in Tulbagh.

The financial officer will:

  • Processing inventory journals daily during harvest to account for the harvest delivered to date.

  • Process daily inventory journals for stock – chemicals, fertilizer, etc to the appropriate general ledger accounts.

  • Process month-end corrective entries from the approved stock adjustment schedule.

  • Ensure statements and debtors reports are issued by the last day of the month.

  • Follow-up all outstanding payments. All payments must be strictly 30 days from invoice.

  • Bill supplier invoices from approved purchase orders and ensures it matches the supplier invoice received.

  • Follow up on outstanding purchase orders not yet approved.

  • Assist the Estate Manager with daily administrative tasks. 

  • Keep record of all compliance-related data. 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A relevant tertiary degree, ideally an ND in Accounting or Bookkeeping.

  • 3 years relevant working experience.

  • NetSuite experience will be an advantage.

Knowledge:

  • Sound knowledge of Accounting packages.

Skills:

  • Strong computer literacy: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Building and maintaining good interpersonal relationships.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Process and deadline-driven.
