Well established wine farm is seeking a flexible full-time Senior Tasting Room Advisor  

The position requires a self-starter. Candidates must be professional, articulate, hard-working, strong leaders who can handle multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for and oversee day-to-day floor operations in the Tasting Room, as well as, execute Wine Club and other sales strategies.

The position requires an outgoing, well organized, self-motivated and disciplined individual who is focused on the customer’s/guest experience.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of our Tasting Room which includes tastings, visitor relations, cellar tours, wine clubs and telephonic sales
  • Create a memorable experience for the guests
  • Describe wines and winery history; answer visitors’ questions about wines.
  • Provide general tourist information.
  • Handle routine sales transactions which include operating cash register and accounting of daily sales.
  • Assist with display and stocking of retail items and wines
  • Represent winery at outside functions as needed.
  • Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of winery and our wines
  • Inventory management of wine and tasting room supplies
  • Coordinate with hospitality events, such as lunch & tastings, VIP tastings, and wine club events
  • Ensure daily cash ups are correct and complete at the end of the business day
  • Follow up on shipping to customers and wine club members that orders direct from the farm
  • Ability to work 3 weekends and be flexible
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

 

Qualifications

  • WSET Level 2 (Minimum requirement WSET Level 1)
  • Minimum three years tasting room experience
  • Marketing/sales skills A tertiary qualification (Tourism, Wine) advantageous
  • Neat and professional appearance
  • Bilingual (English and Afrikaans)
  • Excellent communication skills and people management skills
  • Patient and professional at all times
  • Computer literate for administrative duties
  • Passion for wine and customer service with strong wine knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in the POS, and/or ability to learn IQ POS
  • Must be able to pick up 15kgs (Moving of wines are required)
  • 21 years or older with a valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.

 

  • HOURS:
  • Flexible Hours as required
  • Three weekends per month as per hospitality duty roster
  • Own Transport
