Premium Wine Estate in Stellenbosch is seeking to employ two cellar hands for the 2021 harvest season.  The term of employment would be from the 18th of January till the end of March 2021.  This is a great opportunity to be part of the premium winemaking process and work with Bordeaux cultivars on a historic wine estate.

The candidate must: 

  • Have a matric certificate
  • Previous harvest experience
  • Understand and be confident in the winemaking process (pump overs, transfers, additions, etc.)
  • Understand the importance of cellar hygiene
  • Be able to carry 15kg and do physical work
  • Be comfortable with stairs and heights
  • Have reliable transport and own accommodation
  • Be willing to work extra hours as well as on weekends
  • Must have contactable references
  • A diploma or degree is not a requirement, but a wine related qualification would be to your advantage.

This is the ideal position for someone who is relatively new to the industry, eager to learn, hardworking, reliable and trustworthy.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Grape intake and processing
  • Monitoring the press
  • Pump overs and punch downs
  • Racking and transfers
  • Digging out of tanks
  • Barrel work
  • Cellar hygiene
