Manager for table and raisin grapes division

This position is a middle management position reporting to the Senior Manager: Production and operates in the main table grape- and raisin production areas in South Africa. The position therefore requires regular travel. This position is situated in Stellenbosch.

 The following Qualifications, skills and experience will bag you this position:

  • National Diploma but preferably a B-degree in Horticulture and/or Viticulture.
  • 5-8 Years’ experience in Viticulture / Plant Pathology/ Nursery practices.
  • Must qualify as a Plant Inspector and previous experience in plant improvement functions and/ or experience in grape farming operations would be advantageous.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills with a strong appetite for teamwork and the ability to work cross functionally.
  • Must have good computer skills and experience in database programs.

 Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Leading the grapevine team and the management of full scope of grapevine plant improvement- and plant propagation services.
  • Planning and establishment of mother blocks as well as the management of plant material orders of contracted nurseries and clients.
  • Responsible for inspections of mother blocks as well as contracted vine nurseries according to the standards of the Deciduous Fruit Certification Scheme.
  • Responsible for the marketing of table and raisin grape varieties.
  • Technical support to nurseries and growers and develop accurate inspection reports.
  • Financial management and reporting – budgeting, reporting, cashflow management.
