Purpose: To maintain and improve manufacturing process equipment and ensure that such machinery operates optimally in a clean and organized environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified artisan with N3, Millwright with good electronic skills
  • 5 years’ experience in maintenance of equipment in FMCG/Beverage industry
  • Experience in maintenance and operation of electronic packaging equipment
  • Experience in working on filling machines, labelling machines, conveyors, printers and glue units
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant statutory regulations (OHS Act, HACCP)

 Knowledge required:

  • World class manufacturing principles with a specific understanding of lean manufacturing
  • Identify and analyse process challenges/shortcomings
  • Root cause analysis tools and implementation of solutions
  • Clear understanding of the role of a technician within a FMCG production environment
  • Strong technical aptitude fault finding.
  • Machine specialist in bottling environment would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance system
  • Basic PLC programming would be advantageous
  • Good problem solving skills, electrical wiring, and problem solving.
  • Basic computer skills and good written and verbal communication skills (English & Afrikaans)

Job Summary:

  • Perform daily scheduled maintenance activities in accordance with safety procedures and department working standard
  • Analyse technical problems immediately as and when they arise on the packaging lines & process areas and make the necessary repairs and/or corrective measures
  • Optimize available resources, contain cost, improve machine productivity
  • Project planning and execution of technical improvements
