Temporary Front of house and events manager position at leading Paarl wine estate

Distell is in the process of recruiting for a candidate to be appointed on a fixed term contract as Front of House & Events Manager at Nederburg Wines based in Paarl.
The successful candidates will report to the Restaurant General Manager.

Purpose of the role:
To manage the front-of-house team to ensure world-class service and exceptional guest experiences are provided to every Nederburg visitor.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
Manage relationship and service levels with JV partners to deliver brand-appropriate customer experiences.
Manage relationships with internal Supply Chain site partners to resolve maintenance and other site-related issues promptly and efficiently.
Minimise stock and cash losses.
Control daily banking and cash floats.
General administration, procurement, and budgeting.
Manage staff roster for optimal service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
Implement and maintain QMS systems.
Develop (together with Destination Manager and Restaurant General Manager) and implement new revenue streams utilising existing infrastructure.
Develop and promote function, wedding, and conference packages.
Promote the Manor offering to tour operators, local tourism networks, and accommodation providers.
Drive the promotion and sales of destination offerings, experiences, and products.
Together with the brand team, manage day-to-day execution of CRM strategy, drive database, and wine club signups, and represent the brand at wine club events.
Responsible for training of all Front of House staff on service excellence, food and beverage management, sales skills.
Manage all aspects of the Nederburg guest experience.
Conduct tours and tastings as required.
Consult with potential clients for weddings, conferences, and functions, coordinate internal and external service providers, manage quotations and billings, determine layout and service staff requirements, provide customers with a programme for the event and manage set-up for the event.
Oversee the hosting of all events at Nederburg, provide customers and guests with an excellent experience.
Responsible for all event permits and fulfilment of all local government regulations relating to special licensing.
Coordinate and implement special VIP tastings and functions.
Stand-in for Restaurant General Manager and Chef when required.

The successful candidate must have the following attributes/ experience/skills:
Appropriate tourism, hospitality, or eventing qualification
Wine knowledge and qualification: CWA Certificate/WSET2
Suitable tourism, hospitality, or eventing experience
Highly organised. Experience managing multiple priorities and changing environments.
Understanding of, and experience in the hospitality and events industry, preferably in a premium wine environment.
Proven track record of delivering results against defined targets.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Pilot, and CRM platforms.
Strong customer service and sales aptitude.
Able to work independently and creatively, pre-empting and problem-solving issues as needed.
Possess excellent communication skills, friendly, approachable, and professional when dealing with visitors and staff in person, over the phone, or in writing.
Able to start a project and carry through to successful implementation.
Strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to a flexible schedule.
Willing to work weekends and public holidays
