Morgenster Wine & Olive Estate is looking to recruit a dynamic, creative & wine passionate individual to join their skilled tasting room team. the goal of the appointment is to embrace the synergy and lead the team & the tasting experience to new heights. you will have experience in the day-to-day activities of a tasting room, wine passion/knowledge & practical ideas relating to revenue creation.

 key responsibilities will include:-

 wine & olive oil tastings

  • delivering a remarkable guest experience & create brand ambassadors through exceptional hospitality & tasting room programming
  • ensuring guests have a world-class tasting experience
  • assisting / hosting private function tastings & vip tastings with clients
  • staff training & overseeing of tastings

 customers

  • guest liaison: answering direct enquiries on emails & phone calls
  • responsible for online orders following company guidelines
  • developing & hosting tours on the estate (i.e - olive factory tour, heritage tour)
  • signing up new members to the wine club
  • relationship with national & international tour operators. booking groups for tastings & morgenster experience
  • liaising and organising tastings with guest houses and neighbouring estates

 sales

  • meeting & exceeding targets
  • responsible for tracking expense and sales budget
  • implementing promotional offers
  • visual merchandising
  • tasting room incentives & maximising team effectiveness
  • platter(s) stock management & budget
  • monthly reporting to senior management on sales, operations & tasting room overall performance

 operational

  • responsible for daily operations & following company policies
  • creating / implementing standard operating procedures
  • coordinating & overseeing daily shifts
  • implementing health & safety protocols
  • opening & closing the tasting room
  • direct sales pos
  • cash and credit card reconciliation
  • daily cash ups
  • daily stock take and stock order
  • staff wages
  • staff rosters and staff management
  • positively work with other departments such as marketing, production, etc
  • weekends / holidays work required as well as flexibility in the evenings

 managing tasting room staff

  • providing direction & leadership to tasting room wine advisors. delegating responsibilities as required.
  • communicating & enforcing company policies & procedures
  • managing staff in a busy environment
  • responsible for staff meetings, annual reviews, staff counselling, hiring & performance management
  • responsible for employee safety
  • respect and value the power of conversation/communication to bring people together, learn and solve problems

please note that this position requires at least 3 years  management experience within a wine hospitality environment. tertiary wine related qualifications will be advantageous.

full understanding of point of sale systems & technical computer skills (training on in house accounting system will be provided). own transport essential.

hospitality hours & weekends required.
