a dynamic wine company, with a local & international footprint, is looking to a appoint a financial controller to assist the cfo with a variety of financial activities, structure & control. the position will suit an astute financially educated individual. you will be a diligent, self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude, that is highly organised with an understanding of financial principles. the environment is fast paced and you will be exposed to many different facets of financial activity. definitely not a boring accounting job.

you will be required to assist with various aspects of accounting across different companies and it will include some of the following examples:

  • payroll and related journals
  • process intercompany recharges and reconciliations across all related companies
  • processing and reconciliation of some suppliers for certain companies in the group
  • processing and reconciliation of some customer for certain companies in the group
  • customer and supplier loan off sets
  • overseeing bi-monthly debtors meeting and chasing slow paying debtors across all related companies
  • posting of journals across all related companies on a monthly basis
  • processing of bank receipts and payments, resolving differences and prepare a bank recon for certain companies in the group.
  • overseeing monthly stock counts, posting counts and report back across all related companies
  • adding any new stock to the stock system
  • harvest calculation and journal posting
  • maintaining the fixed asset registered and posting depreciation journals
  • audit prep and dealing with related queries

 this position requires you to work from home, full time 8:00 – 16h30. monthly meetings are held in cape town and you will have to be present for these and ad hoc meetings when they arise. you will need to prioritise and manage time effectively to meet deadlines across multiple related companies and projects.

we are looking for a minimum of 5 years work experience with a tertiary b comm degree. whilst wine industry experience is not a requirement, it will be advantageous. owing to the international exposure you will have an excellent command of english, both written & spoken. tech-savvy with above average computer skills. team player with good emotional intelligence. exceptional attention to detail. ability to work well under pressure and independently. ability to work with discretion. reliable and able to deliver on deadline. own transport and driver’s license
