our client, a dynamic wine company, with markets both local and international, is looking to appoint a sales assistant to the team. the goal of this appointment is to support the global marketing & sales manager.

this position will suit an individual who is highly organised with an interest in sales, sales admin and support, marketing support and customer relations. your duties will relate to the execution of the strategic sales plan, the liaison with customers, and the ad hoc issues that relate to sales:

Sales Administration
general sales administration and support duties
assist with database management
assist with sales reports and feedback
maintaining all sales related records (physical/cloud-based)
part of the debtor follow up team post sales

Sales Tasks
the implementation and execution of the strategic sales and marketing plan.
maintaining and growing existing customers.
identifying, developing, and growing new customers.
dealing with customers communication on a daily basis – telephonic, email, facebook, instagram and other channels.
provide after-sales support, including following up with potential customers when samples have been sent for any potential new business.
liaising with drivers and the logistics team regarding deliveries.
assisting the sales manager where required.
liaising with national distributors and international agents with respect to sales, wine allocations and marketing plans.
attending wine shows/events and visiting customers or markets.

Logistics
arranging the drop-off and collection of samples where required.

you will have a minimum 3 year-working experience with a tertiary degree/diploma or similar. knowledge of wine and the wine industry is a requirement. english as first language is preferable due to overseas sales responsibilities. however, if english is not the home language then the candidate will have an excellent command of the english language, both written and spoken

work from home with weekly meetings in cape town/somerset west. may be required to do some travel locally and internationally as the position grows. tech-savvy, above average computer skills

excellent telephone manner, team player with good emotional intelligence, sales goal driven,

exceptional attention to detail, ability to work well under pressure and independently, ability to work with discretion, flexibility to work overtime and on weekends when required, reliable and able to deliver on deadline, own reliable transport and driver’s license, flexibility and willingness to travel

crucial is a “can do” attitude and the natural willingness to deliver exceptional customer service, every time
