VACANCY:   PIZZA MAKER

Purpose:

We are looking for an energetic, personable and experienced Wood-fired oven Pizza maker.
One to two years experience with wood-fired oven and hand-stretching dough. Overall knowledge of kitchen, grilling and cooking methods, whilst maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation in workstation.

Ability to keep par-level right, cooking to order, maintaining a clean workstation, equipment & stock.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:   

  • Review the daily production sheets with the FOH Manager.
  • Prepares lists of food products required for station for FOH Manager.
  • Preparation, cooking & presentation of pizzas in the restaurant.
  • Maintaining your section dedicated by the FOH Manager.
  • Actively participates in training of culinary skills to junior staff & apprentices.
  • Adhere to standardized recipes & specifications in order to maintain consistency & ensure all standards are met.
  • Keeps work station clean & organized including store rooms, countertops & stove tops/grills, ovens & floors.
  • Ensures that station opening & closing procedures are carried out to standard.
  • Keeps overproduction and food waste to a minimum, ensures proper rotation, labelling, & storing of food in order to reduce food cost expense.
  • Operate all kitchen equipment & conduct themselves with safety in mind at all times.
  • Ensures that all food products are handled, stored, prepared & served safely in accordance with hotel & government Food Safety guidelines.
  • Report any & all deficiencies in kitchen equipment functionality & quality of food products to the FOH Manager in a timely fashion.
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean & safe working. environment with active participation in the hospitality health & safety program.
  • Adhere to all environmental policies & programs as required.
  • Maintain a team work ethic with a positive, pleasant, attitude on shift.
  • Security, Health and Safety.
  • Other ad-hoc duties may be assigned from time to time, for operational reasons.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • 1-2years’ experience working in a restaurant, hotel or hospitality in a pizza maker/cook position.
  • Must have experience & be proficient in pizza cooking.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills in English.
  • English Speaking – second language is fine.
