Benguela Cove is a luxury wine estate situated in Walker Bay, Hermanus, the Assistant Restaurant Manager will be responsible for  assisting the  Restaurant Manager  with  the smooth operation of the restaurant on a daily basis as well as the general operation of events, conferences as required.

This role requires a hands-on individual who is service minded, well-presented and has a passion for hospitality.

Skills & Responsibilities

  • This is a leadership role which has a lot of responsibility and therefore requires great leadership skills. You will need to be able to keep a level head, be able to multitask and have excellent people skills.
  • You will be responsible for supervision of front of hours staff which will include, bar staff, waiters, runners and cleaners. You will need to be proficient at dealing with complaints, last minute schedule changes, kitchen issues and stock problems. You will need to at all times present a good role model to the staff that report to you.
  • You will need to be able to deal with multi-issues and situations as they arise and be able to stay focused during busy times and delegate tasks to employees to keep the business running smoothly.
  • You will be involved in training of new staff and helping them to transition into their new role and become productive asap. You will assist in ongoing training of all staff to ensure that company standards are met and exceeded.
  • People skills and excellent customer service are a must in this job role, not only will you interact with your staff everyday but you will also need to assistant guests with their questions, complaints or concerns. You will need to maintain a professional front and have the ability to deal with situations politely and in a professional manner.
  • Coordinate with team to meet sales targets, ensure customer satisfaction and follow company procedures at all times to increase productivity.

Experience & Attributes

  • Previous experience in an assistant Managerial role
