Distillery Manager - Worcester

The position is based at our Worcester Distillery. The successful candidate will report to the General Manager: SA Distilleries.

Key performance areas include (but are not limited to):

• Setting goals for Worcester Distillery within the overall divisional key performance areas • Managing assets and financial resources to achieve short-, medium- and long-term goals • Compiling and effectively managing the budget • Interfacing with other supply chain operational divisions as well as customers and suppliers (i.e. internal and external) • Effectively leading subordinates to ensure a competent and motivated workforce • Responsible for safety, health and risk control at the Worcester site • Responsible for adherence to all relevant environmental management policies • Driving continuous improvement through innovation, effective problem-solving and implementation of best practice at the site • Responsible for the quality of all products produced at Worcester • Responsible for the raw material intake for the site • Responsible for the production and maturation of brandy • Member of the sensory evaluation (tasting) panel • Custodian of the quality management system • Legally appointed person for Worcester Distillery in terms of the OHSAct (i.e. item 16.2).

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications/experience/skills/attributes:

• A relevant B degree, preferably in Engineering Sciences • At least five (5) years’ relevant experience within the FMCG industry (especially alcoholic beverages production) at a senior level will be highly advantageous • Excellent people management and development skills • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills • Strong commercial acumen • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment • Well-developed analytical and strategic thinking ability • Excellent problem-solving and planning ability • Demonstrable knowledge of WCM practices will be highly advantageous • SAP and excise knowledge will be highly advantageous • Sound human resource and industrial relations knowledge.
