More than 80% of our wines are exported to over 39 countries worldwide and are now focused on expanding our local footprint within all areas of South Africa and Africa and then also developing target markets globally with priority brands of the company. We currently have a vacancy for a Purchasing Manager.  The ideal candidate will join a dynamic team who is passionate about our brands and wine! 

The main Functions of the position are:

  • Procurement of dry goods and flavours in an on time in full and cost effective manner
  • Production schedule and planning according to sales forecast and production policies
  • Manage finish goods and dry goods invoicing of all external customers
  • Work closely with Winemakers, Bottlers, Costing, NPD, Finance and Logistics department
  • Liaise and build solid relationships with suppliers local and abroad
  • Re-evaluate suppliers and implement service level agreements
  • Perform quarterly supplier reviews
  • Perform cycle counts and quarterly stock takes of dry goods
  • Ensure dry goods managed during phase in phase out during business change
  • Identify slow moving and risk stock and reduce dry goods stock holding
  • Prepare annual dry goods budget
  • Prepare budget assumptions and manage budget negotiations
  • Form part new product development forum and Food Safety Management forums
  • Report on wine and dry goods production losses
  • Report on actual dry goods purchases vs budget/forecast
  • Report on actual production savings vs budget
  • Report on stock holding of good Stock, slow moving, risk, Provision recovered and returnable packaging
  • 3-5  years’ experience in Procurement and /or Operational planning environment, preferably within a wine, spirit or beverage company  
  • Strong communication skills and ability to create strong relationships with suppliers

  • Sound understanding of financial principals
  • Ability to work under pressure
